Thornbury Surfacing (Chippenham) Ltd is an asphalt and surfacing specialist company covering the Midlands and the South West. They have more than 40 employees operating across the region. So, it is important that their IT solutions meet the needs of their office-based team as well as those travelling or on site.
Malcolm Drinnan, Contracts Manager, values close working relationships with suppliers. But he was becoming increasingly frustrated with the regular staff changes at Thornbury Surfacing’s previous IT supplier. He felt he was constantly having to rebuild relationships and explain the intricacies of their IT structures.
Priority IT was recommended to him as a local and experienced provider, so he met with Kieran, Priority IT’s Managing Director. “I work off instincts, and I immediately realised that Kieran would be a safe pair of hands, offering a sustainable relationship. Thornbury Surfacing is like a family, and we need a personal contact providing a central focal point.”
The previous supplier wasn’t forthcoming with important information required for the changeover to occur. So, Kieran explained the entire situation to Malcolm and chased accordingly. The changeover was then carried out over a weekend to minimise any disruption. Malcolm commented:
“There were no transitional issues – the staff didn’t know anything had happened!”
Subsequently, with Priority IT now a trusted partner, Malcolm asked Kieran if it would be possible to source or develop a bespoke job-management system. The existing system was very expensive and wasn’t performing. Priority IT created a bespoke system which is more simple to use and is cheaper to operate, with Priority IT also providing ongoing support.
It is Malcolm’s job as Contracts Manager to ensure that suppliers are regularly reviewed (usually every couple of years) and renewed as necessary. However, despite having used Priority IT for nearly three years, he has no intention of moving to another IT supplier.
